H. Michael Barrett, Founder, University of Tennessee (1980), BS in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Psychology. Michael has made a career of starting and growing successful businesses from the ground up. He has lived in Tennessee for over 30 years and believes in making contributions to the quality of life in the state through innovative business practices and philanthropic contributions. 1805 Investments, LLC was formed in accordance with both of these philosophies.

Michael’s main goal in founding the company was to help other entrepreneurs to realize their dreams. In 2003, he gathered together a group of highly successful individuals to facilitate accomplishing this goal via their active participation in the businesses associated with 1805 Investments, LLC. 1805 members and affiliates practice best principals in business and strive to give something back to each other as well as the community.

J. Michael Clement, Esq., University of Tennessee (1983), Graduate Degree Political Science, Graduate of Memphis State law Scholl (1986). Michael has been practicing law in his hometown of Clinton, TN and serving as the Attorney for the City of Clinton since 1999. He has previously served as President of the Anderson County Civitan Club, Adult Literacy Board, Young Democrats and Chairman of the Board for the Chamber of Commerce.

Michael is a member of the First Baptist Church and the Sons of the Revolution, as well as an avid sportsman, golfer and father of two.

David Sweeney, University of Tennessee (1982), BS in Business Administration, Graduate of Cumberland School of Law (1987). David has been practicing law in Memphis, TN since 1987 specializing in Debtor Creditor Law. Former Chairman of the Memphis Bar Association, Bankruptcy Section and current State of Tennessee Chairman of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys.

Ivey Woodard, University of Tennessee (1981), BA in psychology, minor in math. Ivey started his professional career with Schering Plough Pharmaceuticals in 1982 while living in Houston, TX and later held a position an executive sales and marketing position with Amgen from 1990 until retiring in 2001. While in Houston, Ivey pursued a MBA in Finance from the University of St Thomas. His successful career will facilitate the goals set forth by 1805 Investments, LLC. Ivey is currently pursuing an advanced nurse practitioner degree from Vanderbilt University.

Kirk Johnson, Memphis State University, Kirk has spent the last twenty years as a retail automobile executive. He is a former partner and General Manager of Southeast Automotive in Nashville, Tennessee where he has received numerous awards for sales, service and customer satisfaction (Daimler-Chrysler, Five Star).

Eric “EJ” Johnson, Real Estate Acquisitions and Investments, UT Martin and MTSU; Since 1999 EJ has made a name for himself in both commercial and residential real estate sales. After being voted the Nashville Association of Realtors Rookie of the Year in 2000, Eric has also been a multi-recipient of the Gnar’s Gold Award for Excellence. His beautiful wife Julie doubles as his business partner and life partner. Together they encompass the essence of what it means to be “crazy dog people”.

Kevin Lorance, Marketing, Middle Tennessee State University (1980), BS in Mass Communications; Kevin has twenty years of professional experience in sales, marketing, management and advertising. His latest accomplishment is the successful operation of his company Adventures In Advertising/Premium Ideas. Kevin is well rounded and has received accolades for his accomplishments in print media (Nashville Business Journal, Publisher) and radio (KEZX in Seattle, WA and WLAC in Nashville, TN).

Paul Thompson, University of Tennessee (1980), BS in Geological Sciences. Paul has been working as an Oil and Gas Exploration Geologist out of Houston ,TX for over 25 years. Paul is a Certified Licensed Geologist by the Board of Professional Geoscientists in the State of Texas and is recognized as an expert witness in south Texas by the Texas Railroad Commission.

Recently, Paul has been involved as a percentage owner and served as the Senior Geologist for the Laredo Energy Company, until the recent sale of the privately held company. His duties included proposing and evaluating future drilling opportunities for the company as well as recommending potential acquisitions and dispositions of assets for the company. Currently, Paul is involved with the formation of a new energy exploration company where he will be performing similar functions as the Senior Geologist and a percentage owner.
